Whats Trimmer for?

I know this is probably a dumb question but I havent figured out a use for the Trimmer other than selecting a segment of a song and then copying and pasting it to the timeline. (whoo pee) Seems like if you allowed a lot of the Sound Forge functions within the Trimmer screen (like volume up or down, add Silence, Fade controls, etc..it would be more useful)

Oh and then rename it something like File Editor.

Of course as usual I'm probably talking out of step with reality.

In addition to selecting portions of a file to bring into the timeline, the Trimmer is also useful for viewing, creating, and editing media markers and regions, which can then be used with the "Create Tracks from Media Regions" commands, or used in Sound Forge.

It's called the Trimmer because it functions very much like similarly named windows in our other applications. It's not the best name, but it's what we call it <g>.
