When are we gonna get profiles back?

Honestly, it's ridiculous to not at least be able to grab someone's real name and website. Email would be nice, too. I know this has been discussed before, but I thought we were told it was coming back. Well??? It's all optional information to begin with, so why won't they bring it back? Anyone know?

I agree, I thought they were gonna improve the forum, I'm sure its still in the works but I wish they would haveleft it as it was until they were ready to change it.
Maybe we need to start a post with that info, at least until they bring it back?

I already started a thread for that back in July. It didn't get much use ...

Back in July. My point exactly.

I happen to know that Chienworks is Kelly, because I took the time to LOOK IT UP at some point.

Some of us in here have handles (my name is NOT "Jessariah"...), and, in my opinion, it takes away from the intimacy of this forum to not allow additional info on those who have no problem sharing it. I used to check out other people's websites all the time. Now, I get this stripped-down list of threads they've posted to and nothing else.

It's time to bring this back. If someone wants to remain completely anonymous (can anyone say "ZIPPY"?), they can. So what's the harm in letting us provide additional info if we choose to?

Happy New Year, All. I think 2005's gonna be a good one...

I agree. We should be able to choose if we want others to view our profile. The original excuse was legal. Legal is counsel, in this case it is bad counsel. The benefits of the community outweigh any potential risk to Sony. All Sony has to do is be more specific in their opt-in request.

As a Vice President of a $130 billion corporation, I've had legal provide marketing counsel. Now I challenge it if it is nonsense and request that they find a way to make it happen. They work a bit harder and provide suitable clauses to allow me to move forward, withiout strangeling our objectives.

I assume the folks who made this change had it mandated as some type of existing policfy and have not escalated it to an officer of the company high enough to ask for a clause.

Sometimes good sense takes a back seat to politics. We'll see what happens, but it does not help this forum (which I have cited three times in presentations as an example of a perfect viral community to support and build product loyalty).

I spoke with someone at Sony, via e-mail, that it would be around the end of December. I asked once more last week, but have not yet received a reply (holiday interference no doubt).

Let's keep hoping!

It wasn't that long ago that Sony (Sonic Foundry) would have responded to this thread....I guess those days are gone : (

Hi all. We are still working on this. We're actually doing a major overhaul of our user databases in order to add some features to the site, and be compliant with Sony policies for handling of customer information. These policies are actually designed to protect your personal information. So while it's been inconvenient on the forums, it is actually a good thing that we're doing.

Sorry that it has taken so long to get this seemingly minor feature back in place. We've been pulled off onto some other projects, but are getting back on it now.
