When??? BluRay Authoring.

This is probably a million dollar question, but WHEN will Sony have a viable method for creating blu-ray discs with menus?

Sony created this monster and its funny how they can create a format, but only have authoring for it in a $50,000 piece of software AND there are lower priced methods available (Nero Vision, Ulead, Roxio, etc) but they aren't great by any means.

So come on Sony... get your game together! How can these "budget companies" create authoring and not the pushers of the format?

according to the press release Sony put out, they already do! I assume by that they mean you can burn to BD from the Vegas 8 timeline.

IMHO, that's like saying they support saving clip frames to a file, with a little * that read "if you hit the PRT SCR button & past in an image program".

Seconded, perhaps Sony Creative will make Blu-print available to us at some point? I am very interested in authoring BD but quite frankly don't want to go through the hair loss that Sonic Scenarist would entail.

You can buy Blu-Ray authoring software now at SCS if you have $50,000 in your pocket . :)

because sony know that all us non-hollywood guys just need 5000 copies of a wedding, musical, graduation, etc. (a rolling eyes smile would be great right here).

I imagine one of the reasons DVD Architect only had a 0.5 version increase in its most recent iteration is because more considerable upgrades are planned for a 5.0 release. Hopefully that includes more extensive Blu-Ray capability, particularly given that this is (partially, anyway) Sony's format. It would've been nice if 4.5 had allowed discs with menus, though. I believe Encore CS3 from Adobe has this feature.

I doubt, though, that it will allow us to create much outside of what we can already do with DVDs, though. I don't imagine it'll allow for creation of BD-J games, or something, heh. You've got to get something extra for that $50,000.
