When I place my video in vegas pro it adds extra audio and video

As stated in the tittle, when I drop my MP4 video file in Vegas Pro 14 it adds a bunch of blank audio at the beginning and uses the last frame of the video and extends it out until it matches up the end of the audio. Basically 15min of blank audio in the beginining while the video plays and 15min of the last frame of the video until the audio ends. It turns a 2hr 18min video into 4hr 58min

Even when I delete the extra and match up the audio it seems to only match up in one spot, I skip to a later part in the video and it's out of sync again. The video plays properly in all other video players I watch it in, it just seems like Vegas Pro is giving me issues.

I will link a picture of what it looks like.

I used to have this happen in Vegas 14 when I would drop files from my GH4 recorded in 4K onto the timeline. It's due to an incompatibility with the codec. My solution was to update to Vegas 15.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

IIRC, this was a problem with a specific variant of GH4 footage. Maybe, 24p DCI? Anyway, perhaps the OP can share the details of his footage file type & camera. I thought the issue was fixed in Vegas 14 too, or possibly just need to switch from .mov to .mp4 (or something like that.)

It was recorded as an FLV in OBS and I converted it to an MP4 to open it in vegas
