I just rendered an hour of avchd @1920x1080 with transitions and minor color correction in about 1.5 hours (vegas 32). The "no recompress" makes a hell of a difference both in terms of render time and quality. Not even so much as a hint of an oncoming crash either. The final output quality is noticably better than in 8. With this release avc I believe is about ready to be used seriously.
I think there remains only one MAJOR issue that SCS needs to work on and that's preview. This release pretty clearly shows that they have squeezed about every drop of performance out of VFW that they're going to get with little tricks like automatic shifting of preview quality and increased look-ahead reads. If SCS is truly looking at this as competition for FCP PP...et al, then this will HAVE to be addressed
At any rate, no takers on the above question? If I import 800 clips that's 1600 peak files that Vegas has to write.... when I will only use 800 of them...... quite a bit of extra time spent unnecessarily. No way to kill the writing of the stereo downmix files?
