Where are captured clips stored ?

I am new to Movie Studio Platinum (but I have read the manuals) but one thing continues to confuse me - why are the clips captured from my Sony DV Cam not stored in the same location as I set the project up in - they were defaulting to a location in c:documents and settings/.........etc but I have been into Capture 6 - Options - Disk Management and set them to be stored on my external USB disk. I can then cut and paste them into the project directory. Without this the storage structure would get very mesay quickly.

Surely this is a major omission from the software or am I missing the obvious?. Any assistance/guidance greatly appreciated.

Regards
Phil

Have you deleted the My Documents path from VidCap's list of directories? If not, every time you disconnect the external drive it will revert to My Documents.

"I can then cut and paste them into the project directory."

Before every capture i'll set the capture directory to my current project directory. That way there's no need to move anything around afterwards.

Thanks for the reply. How do you set the capture directory to the current project directory - do you modify the path within the Capture 6 - Options - Disk Management to where you setup the project - if so I will try this. This is the same place where I have disabled the clips being saved to c:\documents settings etc ?

Yes, that's correct. I wouldn't just disable My Documents; i'd delete it from the list.
