Where are the presets kept in Vegas?

I have always wondered how to save the custom user presets (such as FX, etc)on a disc of one has to reinstall the program.

Anyone know what file name are they kept under so that the file can be manually overwritten with the saved presets after a re-install? This happened to me once and I had to manually re-create all my old presets.

They are kept in the Windows registry in two different areas depending on whether they are video or audio presets. Some of the larger ones like the Text Generator also have a file in the filesystem. In that case the registry entry points to the file. It would be really nice if there was a utility to save them and transfer them to another PC but there isn’t. The best you can do is package them up as a plug-in chain and use the Sony Preset Manager 2.0 to save them and restore them on another PC but that doesn’t work for presets that also use files (like some generated media). :(

Perhaps we should request that the Preset Manager be enhanced to provide this capability. It seems like the logical place to do it so that all Sony software benefits.

I think it would also be nice if future versions of the SONY applications would stop storing these in the registry, which is already way overcrowded with non-registry-related junk anyway. It would be nice if they were entirely stored in files in a shared SONY directory. That would make backing them up and sharing them so much easier.

Now, who within SONY would have thought this as being a rather good idea? Who would need to know? I'm wondering if this has been raised before?

If presets are stored in windows registry you can create a reg file from the registry key then on the other pc you double clic the reg file and it will reinstall all the preset on the new computer registry file.
