Where have all the Manuals Gone ?

When I bought VMS6 I got a beautiful 400 page PDF manual.

Now I buy Plat8 and no PDF manual .. just the online help files. The download area only offers the miserable quick guide.

So now I resort to using the VMS7 manual... the help files just don't cut it - they appear to be abbreviated and it is difficult to relate to their disjointed nature.

How can we appeal to Sony to deliver the manuals in their full form ? Or have I missed something ?

Thanks Vince

Try clicking support at the top of this site>support>manuals> then scroll down about 3/4 of the way - you will see the link to dowload the manual there I believe.

Nope - that link just gives you the nasty Quick start guide - no 400 page manual

I got a 70 Page manual on the DVD that I purchased.
Also I downloaded the same form the downloads page.

I understand what you are saying, Vincej. The currently available v8 manuals are not the same as what we got in the past. But, even the big manual that came with previous VMS releases wasn't complete -- you still had to download the manual from the net to get everything.

I have also downloaded the v7 Vegas manual to use. I'm not sure what would be missing from that doc, but I suspect that it covers most if not all the features in VMS 8.

I remember the old days when any self-respecting computer geek had shelves and shelves of docs. These days I think I have a few tech books that I rarely reference -- I use online docs for almost everything now.

Thanks everyone - I'm happy to download stuff, I just wish we could have the 400 page version and not these quick start guides.

The help files in the app just are too difficult to navigate around and retain a wholistic sense of what is going on.

I guess bottom line - there just are no manual for VMS8 or Plat 8 out there that some one could forward to me ??
