Which computer should I buy for editing videos?

I'm planing on buying Sony Vegas PRO 13, for my school work. I don't really know about computers that much but I do need one that's good for video editing.

I heard that 8GB is the lowest one I should get for this kind of work. My budget would be around 1500£! And also I'd like a desktop one and one that's already made if you know what I mean?

what material will you be editing?

what other uses will the pc be used for, eg. gaming, cad, ps, etc?

is your budget incl monitor and other peripherals?

how long is a piece of string ;-)
