Which D.S.E. book for Vegas Movie Studio v4?

I've purchased Sony Vegas Movie Studio & DVD software, version 4. I need more help than what comes in the manual. Which Douglas Spotted Eagle book would help me get the most out of this software?

I've read the Amazon customer reviews for DSE's "Vegas 4 Editing Workshop" which were great, so I'd like to buy it. But I am having a hard time finding it. Looks like it's out of print because Vegas 5 is out...?? Should I buy the book for Vegas 5 or make an effort to find a used copy for Vegas 4?

Thanks for any suggestions anyone can offer!

heyjude2222, I'm not sure what kind of help you need so forgive me if this is not it. Bur I edited a manual for the program which goes beyond the manual that comes with the program and also includes a lot of information that has been asked and answered on this Forum.

Chienworks kindly placed it on his website which you can download here:

It sounds like you might be confusing the "full" Vegas program with Vegas Movie Studio. They are similar, but different enough that you'd likely be disappointed with trying figure out what you could/couldn't do with Movie Studio as compared with what's in the Vegas books.

If it's a book you want, you might want to go for "Instant Vegas Movie Studio", the availability of which has been discussed at some length here in this forum...

Yea, you can see that I'm just tripping my way around. I went to a memorial service and saw a video slide show that looked slicker than what you get with the slide show programs I'd tried already. I found out which software they used (Sony Vegas $100) and bought it. The manual seems to leave a lot unsaid, as I didn't see how to get accomplished what I'd seen at the memorial service.

Now I'm seeing there are a number of Vegas products and resources... and I wasn't clear what resources are for which products. I had seen the thread on the availability of Instant Vegas Movie Studio and just didn't know if that was what I needed. So your post was helpful. Thank you!

Been out of town... sorry for the delayed response. I think I just need to play around with all the options more to figure things out. But at the moment, my bigger problem is with DVD Architect, which I'll start a new thread on.

The Douglas Spotted Eagle book for Vegas Movie Studio is finally available. I just got my copy from Amazon (it had been on back order) for $16.47 plus shipping (if you buy something else you can get free shipping). The book is very good and very helpful - I have a lot of experience with Movie Studio, and I'm going throught this page by page and picking up new tips, such as using a right click to add events to the timeline to open options. The book lacks an index, which would have been nice. For instance, on page 34 it says that "Print to Tape" will be covered later in the book, but no clue as to where.

Now -- I earlier bought a copy of his VEGAS 4 EDITING WORKSHOP to try to learn more from parts similar to Movie Studio. The book has barely been used, and has a CD in the back for additional Vegas items. I paid the $49.95 list price from B&N plus shipping.
