Which drive..?

..I have a striped raid0 array of 4 drives NTFS 512K clusters separate from the C: drive...fast like crazy (transfers 17 MB a second...sorry, showing off)...capture isn't a problem but when rendering, does Vegas 3 build the temp files on the same drive..? ...didn't want to set up 512 clusers on C: as well...it's 8K clusters now and I don't want to re-format...TIA...

You can choose where vegas saves it's temp files. It's on the preferences menu under "OPTIONS." Then pick the drive/folder of your choice.

I don't understand how you can use different clusters on different drives
without slowing down to a crawl. If all of your clusters were 512 you should
be able to transfer at over 30 mgs per sec. with 4 drives. 8k clusters are used for servers and are very inefficient for home video systems. (slow) But
then again I might be mistaken. The new ATA 133's will transfer at 15megs
per sec. by themselves.

HappyFriar...thanks...musta missed that one.....

JJKizak...the 4 drives are on a separate Promise controller card....they're all 512 clusters...the C: drive, where I keep my applications and Windoze are 8k clusters...contrary to popular belief, you don't get 4 times the speed because you have a 4 disk array...I ran a transfer test again and I'm getting between 17 and 23 MB/second depending on the file....
