What is the frame rate of your source material?

The frame rate differs from the GoPro 100fps and the Canon HF S200 50fps which can be mixed in a project.

The play back rate will always be 25fps so why would I use 50fps?

PAL is also 50i (interlaced) and 50p (progressive). 1280x720 @50fps progressive is a BluRay standard and will give you smooth playback compared to 25fps. But your slow motion is only half as slow as 25fps. I would think it depends on what you want to achieve.
