Which version of Vegas Video works on Win 98?

Last night I tried to install Vegas Video 2.0g on my Windows 98 machine, but it told me I needed 98SE and wouldn't install. I'm not sure what the difference is between 98 and 98SE though. Trouble is, I no longer have any of the older Vegas Video install files. I won't be using any video features on that machine, so it doesn't worry me if there's no DV compatibility, even though DV avi files play on there alright.

Unless there's a way to upgrade from 98 to 98SE? I don't want to have to pay whatever the price is for the upgrade just so I can use Vegas Video.

This is just a guess, but did you do BOTH DirectX 8.0a installs before attempting the VV 2.0g install?

98SE is the only version of 98 supported.

Well, I've got it set up on NT on another machine. I can't remember if I've installed the latest Direct X on there just yet.

you cannot install DX8 on NT (Microsoft decision). You can install Vegas 2.0g, but you will not get any of the built in Windows DV functionality.

Oh yeah, I know that, but I've got a Raptor card on that machine. But it's still not possible to install it on 98 without the DV support in much the same way as it can still be installed on NT?
