While using Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum, my computer screen goes black.

I am using the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 video card. While I am working in Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum, all of a sudden, the monitor screens go black and the monitors actually appear to disconnect from my PC. I have to restart the computer and reopen Movie Studio to resume work. This is a constant problem. Other programs run fine. What setting must I change to stop this from happening? Do I need a better video card? I am running an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU - X980 @ 3.33GHz, 24GB RAM, 64-bit Operating System, x64based processor. This problem only occurs when I open Movie Studio and begin working on a project.

It could be that your GTX 760 is not coping. Although the problem only seems to occur in Vegas Movie Studio, it is likely that you are not using anything else that makes as much use of your graphics card. I suggest trying a GPU stress tester like Furmark: https://geeks3d.com/furmark/

Also, you should make sure you have the latest Nvidia drivers for your card: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/

By the way, *which* 64-bit operating system? Is is Windows 10?

Oops, I forgot to add, the minimum Nvidia graphics card specification for VMS 17 is GeForce 9XX series or higher with 4GB. It could be that VMS 17 is not coping with your GTX 760 :)
