White Balance Correction Plug In

GabeSolomon wrote on 10/22/2014, 8:19 PM
After spending a lot of time trying to use the sony color corrector and color balance plug-ins,to correct clips with less than perfect results, I came across a third party plug-in bundle made by FBmn Software.

http://www.fbmn-software.com/en/white-balance.html

After purchasing the plug-in bundle, I found that it was easy to use, yields excellent results, and saved me many hours of time on one project! What I tried to do (unsuccessfully after spending many hours) with the Sony Plug-Ins, I was able to accomplish with the FBmn plugin in a matter of a few clicks.

The plug-in can be purchased by itself or as a bundle with plugins for exposure correction and color matching. I love this software and wish i purchased it years ago! I highly recommend it!

Can you give examples how the White Balance is better than Sony's? I just use it with RGB PARADE scope and good to go.

I agree the built in white balance plugin is a disgrace. New Blue Colorfast also works well and is a better value in my opinion. I used to use the FMmn but can never seem to get the license reactivated after a machine re-install. I recently e-mailed for support but did not receive a response. Guess I'll try again as it's a nice plugin.

A lot of us use FBmn's Plug Ins and speak highly of them. I've used them from the time Frederic first offered them and have found them to be excellent in every way. Frederic is always available with adviuce if you have a problem and this always comes quickly --- but what very few problems I've had have always been of my own making! I wouldn't be without them.

if i recall, fbmn plugin did a basic "levels" job on correcting color balance.

i prefer the basic vegas CC for "minor" white balance adjustments, and fore more "advanced" i do a more manual adjustments using a few of vegas filters.

i also use photoshop in extreme cases, there are free plugins that can do amazing job in white balance. (Ps works great for video too)

what am I missing sticking with Vegas WB plud RGB Parade scopes? and eye balling ?

I think I've tried most of the white balance plugins and FBmn is probably the best. Also the exposure control plugin is the best I've ever used in Vegas.

With time I can normally achieve the same manually using MBL, or sony but it takes me a lot longer. The WB and colour temperature plugins in Hitfilm is pretty good to.

Gabe - are you associated with FBM? - it seems strange to cross post this type of message to both Creative Cow and the Sony newsgroups...

Thanks for the tip on the free aav colorlabs white-balance filter. Even though I'm a lowly Movie Studio user the filter works great on Vegas MS13. That's some sort of testament to Sony considering that filter is so old.

+ 1 Phil. And his Colour Match is very good as well.

FB is great for above water footage. NB's Colorfast is what I use on my below water footage.

Hi,

thanks for your nice comments about FBmn Software plugins!

@Marc S, I am sorry that you did not receive an answer to your question, I have no memories of your issue, maybe I have missed something, in which case please contact me directly by email so that I can help reactivate your key.

Best regards,
Frédéric - FBmn Software

i am not affiliated in FBmn software in any way. I was so frustrated with the sony version so when i found FBmn, I thought I should share it.

The best example I have regarding how FBmn software is better than sony is the fact that I tried to color correct a clip with Sony's plug in and I simply could not get an accurate color. Using FBMn, the clip was color corrected as though it was shot correctly

AAV is good, Frederics is good. PS is awesome but you have to deal with hopping giant files back and forth, and things aren't built to easily generate "cine" looks.

The Hitfilm stuff is good, and at this point I regret not getting the bundle when I had the chance.

As for Sony's grading fx, I guess the polite thing to say would be their priorities are clearly elsewhere.
