White Balancing w/ 'Colored Cards'

I am shooting a music video and the producer/director wants to have some shots with colored hues on them. Do you think it would be best to add these hues in post?

Or do you think it would be best to white balance with colored cards so that the picture itself has the hue.
-- What's the outcome of balancing with colors?

Balance with YELLOW card = BLUE hue but what other colors are used?

Thanks,
Lamont

You will have a LOT more control if you do this in post.

You might also want to consider filters used on the lens. This will help you during shooting by knowing exactly the effect that the colors will cause. Sometimes it might not be wanted.

Do it in post... directors ALWAYS change their minds.
Let them know in advance (before they even shoot) that it can't be rushed.
No last minute renders allowed.
Count on the fact that your computer will crash (it probably won't - if you allow the time for problems - this is not a Vegas problem - it's a "rushed editor" problem).

Don't do anything during the shoot that you can't undo in post -- that applies to messing with the white balance or filters -- they both screw up the gamma.

You have such wonderful control over color balance and effects during edit, why limit yourself to a single outcome by shooting off optimal?
