I need some more info . . Where or what are you looking at when you see this? Can you explain what you are doing and if you have anything on the timeline? . . .Following Ed's comment do you know what split screen is? Apologies if you now all this already, but I really do need to have something more to go on?

It happens after I capture from my vcr in .avi format it also appears in the timeline and when i preview it media player.

I use the yellow and white cables on the back of my vcr

Rick Rude?? The real Rick rude from early 80's wrestling??/ lol.. Any how.. If i understand correctly your telling me that you capture into your computer using the rca jacks? Is this So?? If so that I think may be your problem.. What video card are you using?? It has composite inputs??? Maybe Im misunderstanding you.. We need to capture via firewire....
