Who Else Is Excited about Vegas 8 coming soon?

So - who else is excited about Vegas 8's release next week? I know I sure am... with a new titler (finally, thanks!) and multicam support and other features, it looks like they really did something different this time... so I'm glad to see it coming out so soon...

kind of like the day before Christmas... hmm well almost. I think they may have started "getting it" and doing more with Vegas than the incremental 5-6-7s this time....mostly because of competitive pressure from PP and FCP etc.. but whatever it takes, that's good to see they're taking some of our feature requests seriously after all these years..

Anyone else joining me in the virtual "Vegas 8 PreRelease Party" on the forum?

I'm also looking forward to seeing the new V8 training DVDs on the way from different people; that will be a big help.

I know I am. Just came back to Vegas from FCP so this is such a welcome gift. Well, not a gift, since I will be buying an upgrade, but I'm certainly excited, and especially pleased with 32-bit.

nope, no-one else is excited (that's why over half the posts in the last few days have not been about vegas 8 or some part there of :P )

surely it has to be monday somewhere in the world. Hopefully its $150 or around there otherwise students are stuck with Premiere.

I am sure VP8 will be available Monday but not sure when the special upgrade offers, if any, will be available.

i'm waiting to see if there's anything major I need that's not there before I get TO excited. Presets missing from Vegas 5 is still burned in my brain. :)

One of the BEST parts of the whole digital revolution is/are the upgrades.

Used ta be that every year you'd stumble across some exciting Totally New software, altogether, at the various trade shows.

I'm remembering Soap, Bryce, Director, Photoshop and a slew of others that let me do things I never even dreamed of before. Of course the first AVID and Media Composer were improvements of a magnitude - cutting editing time from a five day "on-line" schedule - to one easy day. One of my most clear memories was seeing Manny and Spot (who knew?) demo-ing the very first version of Vegas. I sneered at them with the kind of contempt that only an AVID MC owner could work up ("hey - I've got over a $100k invested in my setup - you really think a $300 software gig will compete??"). But the second I switched from analog to digital acquistion, I remembered their incredible demo, bought Vegas 3 - and here I remain.

Not to say that "it's all been discovered" but that kind of excitement seems to have quelled for the moment (although hardware development has picked up again).

But the upgrades from Sony have always been delicious... and cheap!

Back in the nineties my AVID MC would want about $3k a year to upgrade. $150-$250 bucks is much better.

We truly live in the most wonderful of times.

Can you tell me why you left Vegas for FCP? and why you returned? I am trying to convince the "powers that be" that Vegas will make our workflow much more efficient.

I would be nice if Vegas could import OMF, right now I use Nuendo to import OMF from FCP, then export to AAF to import into Vegas. It's amazing that it all works after all that!

I find it odd that Vegas integrates seamlessly with Steinberg's Wavelab whereas Steinberg's own Nuendo does not. Every project I work on involves selecting at least a few clips to be opened in Wavelab so I can use the spectral editor or do some advanced processing. On the last project I worked on I opened all of the dialog tracks in wavelab mainly because I am so fast in Wavelab.

I am on Vegas 6 now and use it for audio. I am really looking forward to version 8.
I plan to order Vegas 8 as soon as it is available.

My only disappointment is that V8 doesn't work with P2, DVCpro50 or DVCproHD.
Just because the Sony owns vegas doesn't mean they should pretend that Panasonic doesn't exist!

If they're going to be doing a crazy "Windows 95" type thing where you can upgrade at midnight, I'm there.

I believe the last three releases were posted for sale and download about 3am est. It was always there when I woke up and I wake up at 5:30am.

I think with last upgrade, I didn't get the email / code right away and had to come here to get a link from someone else for the better upgrade price. Been awhile ago though...

Same here. The 149 for Vegas and the 99 for Sound Forge 9 all came from the forum. The crazy part is, I have six or so products in the "My Software" section on this website. It isn't like the folks at Sonic Foundry/Sony don't know who I am when it comes to buying new product.

I had the same kind of absent early-bird upgrade emails. My dad, who also owns the same products I own, usually gets the early-bird email two or three times before the date expires. I never get them.

I too have multiple versions of multiple products in my profile. Plus, I was a Vegas user dating back to v2.0.

However, I have learned that the Knowledge Base usually has the early-bird link within a week of the first emails going out so that's where I've obtained the upgrade page the last two times.

I think you need to choose one... the others wouldn't be happy & cause your HD problems. Especially the last one. He's put the the "accidental" "HD problems fixed!" in the features & then put a "*" later that says "in one of the next 3 patches... maybe". :D
