When I render an audio project the levels are always weak. Why?
If I go to Sound Forge I can boost my levels but why cant I do this in Vegas?
Is there something I'm missing?
Note: In Vegas my mixer levels are high before rendering.
I am by no means as experienced as many of the users on this forum but - Are you sure your master faders are set properly? Also, I believe you can use Audio Envelopes to increase volume if need be.
You must have something set wrong somewhere. I have to crank down most of my DV source footage to get it below -10db (which should be considered peak).
Before doing anything in Vegas be sure your sound card is set up correctly and that the volume control sliders for your PC are as they should be for the various input/output devices. Then adjust the Master Fader in Vegas, then if needed move the slider on any specific audio track. If the overall volume is too low, right click on the event, under switches apply normalize.
If you have various files on the same timeline track each at different volume levels you can always add a volume envelope. You can also use the volume envelop to raise and lower the volume for effect as much as you want within an event. Add set points as needed to raise and lower the volume. For still more control you can add a seperate fader control that only applies to some specific track. These get added alongside the master fader once you create them. The detailed how-to is in the full manual.
