Why can't i get a picture or sound using Vegas 5 Software.

I have a VCR plugged in to my WinFast 2000XP capture card so as i can transfer my VHS tapes to my hard drive and then make some DVD's. I have been using the winfast PVR software that it came with and it works fine when i capture; but now I want to try the Vegas 5 software and capture with that, but i can't even get a picture or sound in the preview screen. All i get is a blank blue screen with a message that says "PREVIEW IS TURNED OFF".
Any ideas?

Vegas expects to capture DV over firewire. Have you tried importing the video that you have captured with the PVR software and seeing if Vegas reads that? Just go to File>Import and choose the files you want.
