Why can't I import M2TS??

If I use the blu ray template to create a M2TS and then try to import it, it won't go. It shows up in Project media (with no picture.... just an icon) but when I try to drag it onto the timeline the audio comes out but there is no video.

It imports fine to both Ulead Movie Factory 6 and Pinnacle Studio11.1, and it plays fine with Nero Showtime. (And BTW..... when I copy a EVO file from a HD DVD disk, and change the extension to M2T, Ulead will play/edit it just fine. Vegas will recognize these files maybe 60% of the time)

This is really quite irritating. Sony in part developed AVCHD yet Vegas is Sooooo far behind with editing avchd. I own 2 avchd editing/burning softwares... both costing less than $100 that will do avchd at a much higher level than Vegas will. This is just downright embarrassing. I certainly hope the engineers are hanging their heads in shame on this one.

Perhaps Sony is trying to prevent editing of pirated BD's? :)

"I have had the same issue."

Interesting. I read your other thread and it seems to be much the same.

I imported one just fine the other day albeit a real short test strip... now I can't import them at all. Even ones that are generated by Vegas won't import.

Maybe try knocking the "S" of the end and importing?
