Why check "legacy drivers" to recognize burner?

Ran into an issue with DVDA not recognizing my burner, an ASUS 2014L1T SATA DVD burner. Not brand new but not of ancient vintage. This is apparently a common issue, the fix that I found was to uncheck legacy drivers under burner options. Mine was already unchecked so for grins I checked it and DVDA now recognizes it.

Possibly a picayune issue, but doesn't legacy driver apply to an a old piece of hardware?

Thanks.

You do what works for you. Fiddle and then move on. That's computers for you.

Well put, Peter. If it works, don't question why. Just be glad it does.

Up to a point, but we don't learn much that way ;-)
