Why does the frame rate slow when adjusting video color, brightness, etc.? How to fix?

I am in dire need of help. I can not understand why the parts of the video where I adjusted color, brightness, etc. frame rate slows where it seems as though there are dropped frames, video is not smooth. It's very weird. Is it just me having this problem?

Is there a way to change the setting, so this doesn't happen? Please someone, anyone, let me know, ASAP!

Are you talking about when you're playing back from the timeline or after you've rendered the video?

When you adjust the video properties (like color, contrast, etc.) the program has to do a "soft render" and recreate every pixel of every frame when you're previewing it. Sometimes this stalls your computer or looks choppy.

However, once you produce your final clip, the piece will be rendered and it should play just fine.

Output the portion of the video you've adjusted color on as an AVI and take a look at that with your media player. It should be just fine.

And, once you've done that, you can actually replace the portion you adjusted with your output AVI and it won't be a problem even during playback!

Wow. Thanks for speedy response. I'm not having much luck anywheres else.

& yes, it appears "choppy" on the timeline. It never occured to me to that it could be b/c of a soft render.
