Why doesn't SONY come out with new Themes periodically?

I've got a 3D program for stills called 3D-Album and they come out with new presentations every month or so. I think this is a great idea.

If you look at the current available DVDA Themes for download, the newest one is like half a year old!

Since creating Themes is no simply task, can't someone from SONY simply provide some new ones?

There's a excellent software named DVD Menu Studio that creates themes and menus. Don't know if you can use those menus created with that applc with DVDA2.0, but you can try it. Go to www.videohelp.com, search for tolls and for DVD Menu Studio. Last version, if I'm not mistaken is 1.1. You can also try Photoshop to create some themes. If this is the case, choose an appropriate resolution to work with. REad this please:

"To get around this problem, work with Photoshop documents that are 720 x 540 pixels with a resolution of 72 dpi. (All video graphics are 72 dpi.) This will give you a work-in-progress document that looks the same way it'll look on a video monitor. When you're done using Photoshop and ready to move your still graphics into a DVD authoring application, you can resize the artwork to 720 x 480."

Not really. I mean, you could design some menus in it, export the screens to image format and then use that image as a starting point in DVDA, but you'd still have to re-create most of the elements. The buttons, highlighting, etc would not import from the DVD Menu Studio file. And even once you get all the graphics, actually turning it all into a theme is a bit of a task. You have to figure out which graphics go with which elements (not just buttons, but also masks and highlighting), what the X and Y position should be for everything, what size to make everything....and then edit the XML (a text file? in this day and age??) to reflect all of this.

Not that I haven't been taking a stab at it. But I think the original poster was hoping for ready-made themes.

Go to www.videohelp.com, search for tolls and for DVD Menu Studio.

Or got to Mediachance's website. :)

I agree, there needs to be more themes available for DVDA2. And I really don't understand why Sony's Screenblast Movie product includes 40 themes, yet DVDA has only 15. Why can't Sony make the Screenblast themes available to DVDA2?
bStro wrote on 6/14/2004, 8:11 AM
What format are the Screenblast themes in? Could they easily be imported / converted to DVDA theme format?

If you have access to the backgrounds, and the buttons - it is very easy to make a new theme out of them, using Brian's Theme Editor.

I have all of the Pinnacle backgrounds and buttons (that I wanted) available within DVDA - all that is needed is the source objects.

Screenblast just uses MyDVD, right? (Not a Sony product)
MyDVD came with my burner - I have also put some resources from MyDVD into DVDA

That's exactly it!!! "Ready made themes".

The website for obtaining additional themes has been idle for ages.

Hi,

I´m just producing high quality royalty free dvda themes, stills and motion backgrounds for dvd and multimedia productions. They will be available via download in a few weeks and will be very affordable. Later on there will be royalty free sounds and music, too.

I will keep you informed ;-)
