Why is audio clip shorter than video clip in VP17 but not in VP13?

Rich Parry wrote on 12/31/2019, 7:26 PM

When placing some (not all) video clips on a timeline in VP17, the audio clip is shorter than the video clip. For example the video clip is 22 seconds while the audio clip is 20 seconds. This obviously results in audio and video being horribly out of sync. However, when the same clip is placed on the timeline in VP13, the audio and video are same length and in perfect sync.

I have attached a screenshot of the VP13 and VP17 timelines and include"MediaInfo" details of the clip below. What is VP17 doing that VP13 isn’t or visa versa.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

If it is OK in V13, but not in V17 it is most likely a decoding issue. Try disabling the so4compoundplug.dll. Problems with the newer decoder have been raised many times on this forum. To see which decoder is being used, select an event, right-click and select properties. Choose the general tab and scroll down to plug-ins. It will probably show so4compoundplug.dll which is the default. If so, try disabling it in internal Preferences. Once done, it will show the plug-in as compoundplug.dll.
