Why jpg will not open in Vegas?

Lili wrote on 7/12/2007, 3:47 PM
A client emailed their corporate logo to me in jpg. format but I'm not able to drop it on the timeline as usual.

The message reads "An error occurred while opening one or more files. The file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format.
I've gotten logos from the same company before and have never had this problem. They've resent it to me twice but I get the same error message each time. Any ideas as to why? thanks.

Can you view the picture otherwise? Be sure the extension says .JPG
Can you load in other jpegs into Vegas? Just troubleshooting here.

Is it the newer JPG2000 format? Can you open it in a photo editor and save it as BMP or PNG?

Maybe, just maybe, the actual Logo file IS flawed itself? Not down to the transmission, but the actual logo. Resending would mean they are still resending a flawed logo.

Only a thought . .

Yes, I can view it in my pictures folder where I keep other logos that load no problem. The extension is JPG - not JPG2000. will try fldaves suggestion of opening in photo editor and saving with different extenstion.
I'm tending to agree with Grazie - corrupt file. thanks for replies.

Hi fldave,
Just to let you know that your suggestion worked - open in Paint and saved in BMP or GIF and they drop in. Brilliant...thanks!

Make sure the image is RGB and not CMYK.

P.S. Doh, problem was already solved. Just knew I had that happen a couple times to me and I was stumped. =)
