Wondering why the 2-3 pulldown render option only renders to progressive frames. Doesn't this mean I'd have to "render" the piece again in order to print it to tape?
Thanks,
Mike
Not if you are printing to 24P tape, no. That's the whole value in 24P, is it's progressive. Otherwise, it would be 48i, and you'd be (most likely) better off working with a PAL camera. If you had interlacing in 24P, with the pulldown you'd run into field errors, or rather field issues. You CAN'T print 24P to a 29.97 camera. You can render it from 24P TO 29.97/60i but you'll lose all the value in what you were dealing with initially.
Thanks SPOT,
So if I use 24p Advanced mode on the DVX100, it shoots 24p and converts it to 60i. I capture normally and edit in Vegas using the "NTSC DV 24p" Project Preset, and check "allow pulldown removal when opening up 24p DV" under Preferences. Then when I'm ready to output back to DV render or preview the timeline using the "NTSC DV 24p (Inserting 2-3 pulldown)" setting, and then print to tape. This seems to work great. What do I do if I want to render my 24p footage and bring it back into a 60i timeline?
Thanks,
Mike
If you want to render using 2-3 pulldown and then bring it into a 60i project, render the file, close the project, turn off the "Allow pulldown removal when opening 24p DV" switch (Preferences General page) and bring the clip into a 60i project.
