why no seamless audio in music compiliation?

ok, so I burned a music compliation, from 24bit/48k uncompressed wavs. but it will not switch between chapter points (audio tracks) without a loud 'pop'. Am I missing something in the settings or is dvda unable to do seamless audio tracks? the type of work I am doing requires that no artifacts be introduced on track changes.

I'm just wondering whether this might be a problem with the player, rather than with the DVD-A software.
My set-top player, a Marantz, will always miss the first half-second of audio when playing a new track, whether it be CD or DVD, though I have to admit (happily) that there are no clicks or pops when I jump tracks. With the analogue out connection, which I use normally to listen to Cds, the missed audio does not happen. Perhaps in fact it is the amplifier taking a split second to sync to the digital signal, which does not happen on the analogue input.

However, now that you've piqued my curiosity, I'm going to throw together a quick compilation and try it on the Marantz to see how it sounds.

(Later that same day)

Well I've just tried a compilation and there are no problems. I can jump from track to track without any of the popping you mention. However, the problem I encounter is that in fast forwarding through the tracks, it races through minutes rather than seconds at a time, and before I know it, the DVD has reached the end and stops.

I think youre missing my point. sure if I jump from track to track it plays fine. but if I attampt to play the whole thing through it puts short gaps in between the tracks (not really 'pops' as I have described. These are tracked out of one live set, so the continuity must be there...

Now I've seen plenty of concert videos which each song as a chapter, I know it can be done, but I dont think dvda is capable of doing it. AFAIK, discwelder chrome (~
$1500) is the only software that can do gapless audio, I was hoping dvd-a would but I guess not...

Can you play normal commercial CDs without a problem? I ask because I recently acquired a Toshiba SD3900, and it puts split-second gaps in between the tracks even though there are none on the CD itself. Just wondering if this is a player specific issue.

I ran into a similar situation with Sound Forge making wavs for an audio cd. If there is header information (copyright, creator, etc.) in the wav file, the result was an audible click at the end of each cd track.

The trick was to remove all header info. Haven't used dvda long enough to see if this might be the case.
