Why wmv don't have same version V8/V9

I was rendering a project assembled in Vegas 8 into Vegas 9 to wmv format. For some strange reasons I was getting some glitches and streaks all over the video. I finally rerendered the video into Vegas 8 and all went fine.

So I have noticed that Vegas 8 renders to wmv v9 and Vegas 9 renders to wmv v11, are there any reasons for this?

odds are WMV11 replaced 9, hence the change.

Windows Media encoder 9 was the last version released, several years ago. Since then the supporting codecs have been upgraded, most recently with wmplayer 11. Vegas 9 32, in XP Pro SP3 32 where I am right now, allows a choice between winmedia 7 up to winmedia 9.1 & 9 advanced, depending on type of encoding selected (i.e. CBR etc), same as Version 7 when I just checked -- same as the MS encoder 9. That's not saying something might or might not be broken in 9's encoding to wmv -- haven't done much with it. BTW, it never hurts to check out your reg settings for wmv, especially if using 9 advanced.

Thanks for the info,

I guess I will have to stick with Vegas 8 for some projects to be rendered to wmv since Vegas 9 ain't rendering them properly.
