widescreen

Somethings up!
I am making a 10 sec intro for a DVD and I am doing it in widescreen. However positions are not the same as in preview.

I selected in project properties for DV widescree 740:480
(a bit confusing since normal video is 740x480). I thought widescreen would be more resolution.

I'm just using generated solid media and Text with key frames.

when I preview it in a player the words are in different positions near the bottom yet they end up in the correct position one they move to the last keyframe position.

To explain lets say I have
"1", "2" and "3" all at the bottom.
on sec 1, "1" moves to the very center of the screen. Now the beginning position of 12&3 are out of the safezone borders. BUT when I preview they are visisble in the video. I thought if it was beyond the safe zones they would not be visisble. Now once they (12&3) move to the center they are in the center so I find this VERY wierd.

can anyone help.

Widescreen just elongates the horizontal pixels from .909 to 1.21, not more resolution. Make sure all of your text and media are set to 16 x 9 template.

how do I set that?

I don't remember that in the manual.

If it is please forgive. I'll give it a look over.

They'll automatically set as such if you start with a 1.21 project, and if not, you can use the pan/crop to set them up, using the widescreen preset.
Or you can use Ultimate S or Celluloid to do this too. there is also a free Match Aspect ratio script that you can use.
