Widescreen Question

I have Vegas Movie Studio 8.0 (not Pro) and I have an HD video that is already widescreen video that I am trying to render as widescreen. I heard that I am supposed to select the HDV 1280x720 option in the video properties. However, that option is not present in the video properties. I tried making a custom width and height, but Vegas doesn't let me. It says, "Vegas Movie Studio does not support output of frame sizes greater then 1440 (width) by 1080 (height)." Is the 1280x720 option, perhaps, not available if I don't have Pro? If it helps, the video is from my Kodak Zi6 camera that I converted from .mov to .wmv.

You seem to have bought the wrong product. Movie Studio does not support HD. You need the Platinum edition of Movie Studio to support HD. You can upgrade to Platinum 9 for a few dollars I believe. However, weird that it tells you that error for 1440x1080, while in reality, Movie Studio doesn't do over 800x600. Please confirm with us that you don't own the Platinum Edition.

BTW, WMV is not super-fast in HD editing on Vegas either. I'd suggest you transcode to AVID DNxHD (free) or Cineform ($99) to edit better. But if WMV does it ok for you, it's cool.

Thank you for your reply. And no, I don't own Platinum Edition.
