widescreen video card?

I am thinking on purchasing a widescreen LCD for my computer. Will I need a new video card to handle the 16:9 ratio? If so, what card should I buy?

Lots of the nVidia and ATI cards support this. It's just a mode selected from the driver. I don't know a lot about which cards support these modes, but you can probably find this on their respective websites. You can check this on the video card you have. Just right click on the desktop, go to properties->Settings->Advanced->Adapter->List All Modes.

I think most (or all) of the ATI x1000 series supports widescreen mode. I have an x1800 card and it supports 1080i and 720p mode. No problems.
