Not sure with WildFX but with the one I use, an umportant step is to change DATA type from 24 bit to 32 bit RGB. I think the extra 8 is the alpha channel info.

Hope this helps.

In your video settings in WildFX make sure you set Compression to "None," Depth to "Millions of Colors +," and check the transparent background box. Render the text effect and load the clip into Vegas, right click on it and set alpha properties to Straight unmatted.

2Road Thanks!!!

After a couple of hours of hacking at it I missed the "Millions Of Colors +" option. That did the trick.

I also turned of "Smart Resampling" which improved the quaility in Vegas.

This is cool stuff for banging out the quick title esp.with over 400 effects :)

Thanks again

Maybe stupid question here but I just had a look at the Wildfx site. From memory you can import Flash files directly into Vegas 5 in which case you don't even need the Pro version of WildFX. If that's the case it's a pretty good deal.

Yep, that's what I've tried - works perfectly.

Yeah, in WildFX, that millions of colors + option is synonymous with what wolfbass referred to as changing DATA type from 24 bit to 32 bit RGB. You are right, there's a lot of cool effects in WildFX. If you play with the speed and timing of them you can easily make effects like those seen on just about every TV commercial. Slowing down or increasing the time can also make your text appear in very elegant ways.

farss, I got the Pro version because I specifically wanted the ability to output AVI, but I guess one could make out okay with the Flash output.

My only concern was the quality. Going out to uncompressed AVI, at least to me, seemed to be better than importing the flash file into V5. Especially when you zoom in on the video (saw some pixelation on swf files). But that might just be me.

Plus the pro version supports Alpha channels (once you figure out the friggen Million Colors Plus key). On the non-pro version you would have to probably key it out.

I thought from what the Sony guru had to say bringing the Flash file into Vegas was the way to go because you're importing vector graphics which Vegas can then scale without res loss. Not an issue if there's no scaling. As to the transparency, well I'd assume the flash file would have to include that anyway being vector based.
Possibly the reason you saw some artifacts was because the flash data needs to be rendered by Vegas, the AVI is already rendered so what you might have seen was the render engine not being fast enough or else a bug, seem to recall there was still the odd bug with flash import.
