Will ANY Soundcards do 5.1 through the digital output?

I realize, after much hunting and frustration, that your avergae soundcard with 5.1 surround will NOT output realtime unencoded 5.1 through the digital output, but are there ANY soundcards that will at all? I'm not ready to put up another entire 'selfpowered' 5.1 speaker setup alongside the other normal 5.1 setup I already have, so this has been driving me insane. Does anyone know?
Thanks

Which is...?
Give details. Which card did you find?
If you can add the answer, someone else looking for help on this via the search engine will have an answer.

The Egosys Gigaport DG....simply a 8 track ADAT optical output in a tiny little USB box, with full ASIO 2 support and full mappability. No 'pre-encoded' surround streams neccessary, like as is with 99% of the cards you can get for under 200$ right nowBTW, it costs 159$ US. They also have an 8 output analog version of the unit, with an additional stereo only optical out for the same price.
Cheers, I'm stoked, wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on other crap before I knew that it's not as easily done as it sounds. I've always been able to do it with my RME card, so I figured optical output on a external sound device could be manipulated as such.

Heh, I fell into the same trap... But nowadays I have a pretty solid setup, connected analogue but what the heck =)
