will cda work with NEC NR7800A cdrom(16x writer)? help!

I have a chance to buy cda still in box with sf4.0 but can't find anyone who has my writer mentioned above to see if there is half a chance that it will work. I have noticed on this forum that nobody with NEC writers have logged on with any problems. Are the waters safe for me or will I be throwing $100.00 away when I could be investing it in Waves programs to compliment my digi001 system?
I'm running a Dell 8100 P4 and ME. Also I noted on the support page that most NEC writers from the past were supported, does this mean my chances are pretty good?

I don't have one of these drives, but a friend does. I got him into audio editing a few months ago. The NEC drive in his Dell refuses to work with CDA and also refuses to work with Colin Hill's (www.projecta.net) tool.

My best guess would be to buy a copy of Vegas Video 3 (the drive works well here) or buy a Yamaha CD-R drive (which is fully MMC3 compliant) and should work very well for you. You should also be able to request a black face plate from Yahama. The Dell systems are very nice, however it looks a little tacky with a Beige CD-R drive installed.

Enjoy :-)
