Will DVDA 5 let me burn a HD DVD and how can i do it?. (not Blu-ray) We edited a 1080 video in Vegas and imported into DVDA 5. The final result was not HD. The best resolution that I can find in DVDA is 720. What are we doing wrong?
HD-DVD is an obsolete hi-def format video, escott. Is that really what you mean? Finding an HD-DVD player today would be like finding a Betamax tape player!
DVD Architect -- as well as the studio version -- are both quite capable though of burning a full resolution (1920x1080) BluRay in both standard (MPEG2) and AVCHD mode.
It's hard to say why you're not able to do that. Have you gone to File/Properties and properly set up your disc's properties?
I captured HD footage from my sony cam. It captures in AVCHD format. Downloaded to vegas pro. Created a video in HDV 1440X1080 - rendered in same mpeg2. But in DVDA the properties options supported are up to 720 max wide screen.
How do I get 1440X1080? Am I missing something? Even bought dual layer DVD's to manage file size (Vegas Pro renders to 6gb) but they arent needed for 720.
If you're trying to create a hi-def video disc, your project should be set up for a BluRay disc, not a DVD.
That said, have you gone to the File menu, opened Properties and set the project properties there? You can set the Video Default/Resolution there.
If you set your project using File/New as I recommend in my book (as oppposed to just clicking on the New Project button on the toolbar), you'll have the option to set these properties when you create your project, by the way.
But you can also change these settings at any time in the Properties panel.
I've created a series of free Basic Training tutorials for the program, if you're interested. You can see them at http://Muvipix.com. Just type "DVD Architect" in the product search box. There are also some more advanced tutorials at http://Muvipix.com/dvdas5.php
