Will my files work after reinstall of Vegas ?

I've had a vegas platinum 11 crash. I think it has to be reinstalled. I need to know if my video file I'm editing will work after the reinstall, or will the pathways to the video & audio clips be gone.

A new discovery in Windows 7 is the search bar in the left hand corner. I typed history and found a daily chart of events. Basically it looks like Vegas never installed properly from the start. I have a 40 minute project that crashed a few days ago and the files since that time are bad and unusable. However when I brought a file in from external hard drive storage before the time of the crash all seems to work.

Do you recommend a uninstall and reinstall of vegas plat 11, then do updates?
Will the backup copies work in it, or will I lose it all?
or keep working in the broken one that has crashes every other day, but works kinda fine.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the program should have no effect at all on any work you have in progress, ginger.

I think I know what caused the crash. I have a win7-64bit. Quicktime had only a 32bit version when I started this project. Now Quicktime has a 64 bit version. When I loaded it in I didn't realize that the download didn't take, so when I did the Vegas update it crashed the system because quicktime wasn' installed properly.
I reinstalled quicktime and everything seems to be functioning fine in Vegas. Of course I can't use any of the files after the crash, but the files work OK previous to the crash. I burnt a test and it worked. So it's back to editing....
