One thing i should warn you about though ... once you've saved a project in a newer/higher version of the software you will not be able to open it in the older version. Please make backups of your .vf files before opening them in the newer version.

Why would you want to open it in the older version just out of curiousity??

You shouldn't ever want to or have to, but ...

I think the situation that comes up the most often is when someone is trying out the demo of a new version. They might open up some of their existing projects, tweak a few things, and then save them. If they end up not getting the new version then they are still going to use the previous version. However, the files they saved in the new version demo won't open in the previous version anymore.

It's also possible that you might find a feature that you absolutely need works perfectly in the previous version and doesn't work in the new version due to some bug. In this case, you might have to go back to the previous version to complete your project. You'd better have kept a backup of the .veg file from the previous version though, since the one you've been editing in the new version won't work with the previous version anymore.

Moral of the story is ... at least until you're so comfortable with the new version that you can delete & forget the old one ... always make backup copies of your older version .veg files before opening them in the new version!

I see - thanks so much for your input! I went ahead and have made the switch - and LOVE it. The new transitions are pretty cool. The only thing I'm having trouble with is the DVD architect portion, but I need to spend more time studying the manual!
