will not render complete video

I am having an issue for the past week or so that when I complete my edits in post and go to render my video, only the audio render. The video portion only renders the first section. So if I have a cut, the video after the cut is never rendered. The specific exam;e is I have intros to my videos and only the intro shows throughout the entire video. I have been trying to save my work before rendering and opening a new timeline before rendering and this does not always work.

Any help/advice?

Yes more info please. For a start which version and build of VMS are you using?

Seeing your project is probably necessary to find what your problem is. Please post your project vf file somewhere like Wikisend or Google Drive so others can download and look at it. Don't worry that we won't have the source material, it's the settings we need to examine.

The preview works fine but once it is rendered, only the intro video shows for the entire clip.

VMS platinum 15, build 157

Opening your vf project file in VMS16 Plat shows no obvious problems. But I don't have the Sapphire FX you used and cannot tell where it's applied.

  1. When you say "only the intro video shows for the entire clip" do you mean it continues for the entire length of the render possibly frozen on its last frame?
  2. Try selecting a few seconds over the change from the intro and render the selected section to see if it still occurs. If it does try rendering using CPU only (no graphics processing)
  3. If the above doesn't achieve anything try muting or removing the Sapphire FX and render the short section again.

Previewing and rendering are different tasks. Sometimes VMS only picks up problems when it digs deep into source files and applies FX. A quick preview doesn't find them although this may depend on the preview quality being used.

Thanx for the quick response. I have been using the Sapphire FX for a while without any issues until about a week and a half ago. It is applied at the end of the intro, about 10 secs in to the video.

1. yes it is like the intro is on a loop for the entire video

2. I tried selecting a portion of the video from a few seconds before the transition and after, about 10 secs in total and rendered only the loop with GPU acceleration. it worked fine this time.

I also tried rendering the entire video with a "select all" before starting the render, and it worked fine this time.

I am starting to get confused.

Put it down to computers having a mind of their own. Perhaps "Select all" reset something. You can also double click above the timeline to select all, except if you have markers when only the area between markers will get selected. Because I have my render options permanently set to render selected area I have to remember to select the entire timeline before rendering.
