will there be a vv5 to come?

VV4 is already a great one.....perhaps not completely perfect but everyone seems to be very happy with it, making a living with it, and more and more are looking into using this great program.

Is SOFO working with VV5 now?

Since i am only a hobbyist, i dont really know what are lacking with VV4, I have yet to discover the hidden powers of it. I only wanted to know from professionals what else they need to be completely satisfied with vegas.

I would assume there will be a version 5, 6, 7 and so on. All good software evolves/changes/improves over time. What will be added, changed, only time will tell. For example soon HD cameras will usher in another new era. Just a short 50 years ago such things as digital cameras and personal computers weren't even dreamed of.

I forget the exact quote, or if its only a myth. The claim is once some Patent Office offical said back in the mid 1800's that everything that could be invented, had already been invented. So he resigned and recommended that the Patent Office be closed.

Such narrow thinking is foolish.

SoFo has already mentioned they were working on a Vegas 5.
Peter Haller has mentioned SoFo working on upcoming versions of Vegas AND Acid 5.0 AND Sound Forge 7.0
As mentioned before, even with the Sony buyout (has it been finalized, BTW?), it's business as usual for the SoFo team. In other words, continued work on product updates/developement every day.

I'm very happy to read about that Peter Haller has mentioned SoFo is working on upcoming versions of Vegas AND Acid 5.0 AND Sound Forge 7.0.

I'm own a project studio COMPLETELY based on SOFO products (Vegas 4, ACID 4, Sound Forge 6 and Noise Reduction 2). These tools are the most friendly and cost-effective I've ever use. They help me DAY AFTER DAY to work on corporate, advertising and educational projects. My project studio website is http://www.nucleodecriacao.com.br

Post from Acid user on the Acid forum:

>>no offense to joel, any current vegas users, or anyone at SonyFO, but i've never met anyone using vegas strictly for audio recording. honestly, i think all the video stuff would get in way of being productive if you just want to record some bands.
<<

Peter replies:

"You have not met enough people then. Vegas is used by many audio only engineers. The video stuff does not get in the way of an audio project at all. You can hide any video feature you don't need, just like you can hide the video feature in ACID.

Vegas will be getting better with regard to the audio centric users."

We will look at adding sample based user offsets (vs ms) in the next version (not update) of Vegas.

I wish I could, but policy dictates that we don't talk about details of future releases. What if a feature got pulled before release -- you'd have my hide! In fact, they removed one of my fingernails just for mentioning the digit 5 after the name "Vegas". Forget I said that, OK? :-)

This was a quote from a certain gentleman who for the sake of his toenails shall remain unnamed.
