Will Vegas offer a DVCPRO50 codec?

Does anyone know if this is in Sofo's future plans? I'm purchasing a significant amount of pro video gear for my new employer, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to use Vegas to natively capture and edit DVCPRO50 footage.

The new Panasonic DVCPRO50 decks have 1394 interface cards, so the only requirement is choosing an NLE that provides a DVCPRO50 codec.

SonicEPM? Do you have any information about SOFO's future plans in this area?

Longstanding policy precludes us from talking about future product features sets or release schedules (nothing to do with Sony).

fyi, you can already render files for DVCPRO50 using the Matrox .avi codecs- free download from Matrox. Capture/print is a different story- that doesn't work from within Vegas so you'll need a 3rd party tool for I/O.

Good question---I think it will be interesting to see how Vegas develops considering the fact that in my mind Panasonic is doing very interesting things with firewire and DVCPRO/50. I might very well be in the market for their new 900 series camera and would love to stay with Vegas as my primary NLE.

You can probably capture and print using a Miranda DVGate Pro interface. You might have to use the SDI I/O into the DVCPro 50

Do you know where I can find that Matrox codec? I can't seem to find it on the Matrox site.

For the record, looks like you can find just about anything here: http://mirror01.iptelecom.net.ua/~video/index.htm
