No, not even under emulation and a bit of research was done to see if it could be ported over but the core of OSX places limitation that'd prevent Vegas from being Vegas, at least that's what I seem to recall was the issue.

So will it not even run with Virtual PC?

considering the price of a pc, you can get vegas and a pc for almost the same as FCP...

Hey this post got me thinking about the Apple Switch video spoofs, we should make one. Maybe Sony could post the ten best or some thing.

No, it won't run under virtual PC. The results are horrible.
There is a thread on this, probably buried back around 9000 or so.

Man, if there ever was an apple version of Vegas released, that would be the end of every other non linear editor out there.

I've known guys that have bought PC's just to run Vegas...and as an added bonus, they could finally play some decent computer games !

The rumor is that, YES, it might. Someday anyway.

The new OS is UNIX. Unix can work on PC.

The rumor is that Apple is testing their OS on PC platforms. It is possible.

One would think that apple is better off competing with 95% of the market on an OS basis rather than 5% of the market on a hardware basis that they now have. What do I know though? Maybe 5% is better.

The question is, Can vegas run on wine?

Remember all the noise a couple years ago that Linux was going to kill off Windows?
skibumm101 wrote on 4/23/2004, 10:39 PM
Couple of years ago? how about its still going on. By the way a true linux user does not think linux is ready for the desktop, At least not yet. Linux is doing just fine in what it was intended for.

Billy -- seriously, what's the current story with Linux? Is it still growing strongly, but in different directions than whatever would cause people to start making desktop apps for it? or - ?

Just curious. Not that I'd miss Windows.

Linux is doing good. There's tons of versions of it out there, which is a small problem (not one main OS like Windows). The main thing keeping it from becoming a "mainsteam" OS is lack of software for it. Not many apps people want are on it. Some things are hard to port over (ie Vegas that uses DirectX for a lot of it's functions & Linux doesn't have DirectX). Also, some comapnies say that you can't have the same "Stability" and "ease of use" when you have a program on Linux (Valve Software said that the game Half Life couldn't be proted over to linux for these reasons. Ironic thing is that Half Life was vuilt from the Quake source code, which was compiled to run on Windows, Dos, Mac, Linux, Nintendo 64, Sony Playstation, & Sega Dreamcast. And when the source was released to the public, ported over to almost every computer out there [including hand helds!]).

Basicly, just like Windows 3.1, software people don't mke software for it because there isn't much demand, but unlike Windows 3.1, Mac, & OS/2, people know it's out there with no/little advertising. :) Check out www.linux.org for more info.

The state of linux couldn't be better, It may not be ready for the home user, but the business desktop is well on its way. My company is in the proccess of moving a whole enterprise desktops to linux, this company has over 2000+ computers and this move is going great, we are almost done with the switch over. It was said that there are not enough apps for linux. This is completly wrong for business. What does the averege employee use for his desktop? Email, internet, word proccesing. On linux this is Ximian,Firefox, openoffice. Deploymnet and managmnet is a brezze. We have one windows server left running exchange, and all of the ximian clients have the plugin so they can all colaberate as with outlook.
