My wife is considering the purchase of a new PC. I'm currently running VMS 6 Platinum with DVDA3 on a Dell that's getting long in the tooth. Will they run on a Vista dual-core machine?
The only problem I had with VMSP 6 in Vista was that it refused to see my DVD drive .. but then I didn't try every option to see what else didn't work .. so there could be other issues.
At the time I upgraded to VMSP 8 and it works just fine under Vista.
Sorry to just now be replying to such an old post, but I've just joined this forum. Fry's Electronics just had a "free after rebate" promotion last week on Vegas Movie Studio 9. I think the promo ended 1/29 but Fry's or someone else may have it again (unless you have already upgraded by now). I bought it and installed it, but I still have my version 6 just in case there are problems. I was using version 6 with a Vista computer and didn't see any big problems other than occasionally, the program would fail to see my firewire-attached external DVD burner (similar to what someone else answered in the forum). Usually, all it took was for me to close Vegas and DVD Architect, unplug and re-plug the burner's firewire cable and the computer would then re-detect it. When I started the Sony programs again, it was there.
Well, good for you ... my drive was internal and VMSP6 did not see it at all.
As I said previously, I didn't do a full check to see what worked and what didn't work (beside the drive problem)
ALSO ... when I upgraded Vista to Service Pack 1 the problems I had with another (not a Sony) program *vanished* ... something similar may happen with VMSP6 and Vista .. I'm just guessing .. I have no idea.
If VMS 6 works on Vista .. great .. but if you can afford the upgrade I'd say go for it.
