Win 7, WMP, Vegas 8c & QT

I notice (as has been mentioned here) that WMP in Win 7 plays .mp4 video files without the need to install QT on my system. Does this mean I won't need to install QT when I install Vegas 8c? Does one have nothing to do with the other? :-)

The ability to play .mp4 in Windows 7 Media Player has nothing to do with Vegas, as far as I know.
