Win XP, Vegas Video & CD Arch

Well, I read and tried all the stuff from this list re: getting CDA working
reliably under Win XP. Thanks all you guys for the help. Because burning
and duplicating CD masters is such a big part of my business I decided I
would spend the $180 upgrade from Vegas Audio -> Video so I could sleep
easier with a known 'working' product to burn CD masters. Didn't give a rats
&*($ about any video functions - just wanted a nice, reliable, disk-at-once
burning capability to replace CDA. Punch line is -- there is a HUGE bug in
Vegas Video CD burning that makes CD masters un-duplicatable. After calling
the outstanding tech guys they confirmed it is a known bug with a workaround of
turning off 'quantize to frames', and them moving each track marker slightly....
The only good news is that Video will read CDA projects, so I can still lay out
CD projects there and just use Video to burn. By the way, the 'master' CDs from
the workstation play fine, but any duplicating produces coasters.....so don't trust
just listening to the originals.......

I really feel now though that Sonic Foundry can no longer provide the products
or support for 'professional' level applications (defined by 'I make my
living using them'). It is a real shame to see a formerly great company go
down the tubes. I guess their products will be OK for home use, but not
for anything serious. I cannot afford the time to listen to each 'master' and
then again to a test duplicate to find if any new bugs have cropped up.

Oh, it will be fixed in a 'couple months or so'.....:(
