Win2k seems to be a go on our dual 800.One question.

darr wrote on 1/14/2001, 11:52 PM
I am using a matrox g400 dual card and when i move a fader
it seems very sticky,as far as moving. In 98 it was much
faster moving.

And also can anyone tell me how to make sure dma is cheked
in win2k?
My main recor drive seems to say pio mode. How do i get this
to go to dma?In 98 again simple enough to make a check mark
in the box and reboot.
Any help would be great thanx.

Ok it was two questions:-)
Cheers.

I like the Matrox G400 and have 2 of them- unfortunately,
the 2k drivers are not perfected. Make sure you have "bus
mastering" turned off in the Matrox/advanced/options, be
careful how you set up the "Multi-display controls" (this
can cause havoc with anything using Win2k installer, such
as MSOffice, Vegas etc), and make sure your capture card
and SCSI drives don't share the same bus (although it seems
they can share the same IRQ).

I don't have the problem with the "sticky" faders and the
G400. What driver are you using?

1. Click Administrative Tools, and then click Computer
Management.
2. Click System Tools, and then click Device Manager.
3. Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
4. Click the specific controller for which you want to
configure DMA/PIO settings.
5. Click the Advanced Settings tab.
6. In the Transfer Mode box, click either PIO Only or DMA
if available.

KAC ...

the analog/dv converter option is definitely appealing.
We've used the Sony DVMC-DA@ with excellent results.

Dont bother spending more money to get this external
monitor to work as its useless for sound design because of
the latency that occurs when you view it via firewire and
to the box and from there to your monitor via s-video.
Believe me i have been through the process and it will not
work properly .
I can see the footage,Yes but the latency is about 400-600
ms and that makes it useless for sounddesign!
