Try this:
Right click anywhere on the desktop, pick 'Properties', then 'Appearance', then 'Effects'.
You might also have a high-end video card driver that has even more 'effects'. If you do, then check those as well.

Somewhere you'll have things such as fade effects, transparent windows while dragging, show contents while dragging etc..

dude, i put windows to no effect, none at all, uncluding windows fades affect... everything disabled...

then, open/close vegas, and the window effect is set to fade... minimizing/maximizing windows become slow...

Reinstall Vegas.
malowz wrote on 5/10/2006, 1:42 PM
remove - install, not resolve this...
winrockpost wrote on 5/10/2006, 1:55 PM
if you are saying vegas is the only program that is somehow changing your windows settings ? If so reinstall aint a bad idea.

So, is VEGAS the ONLY app that does this?
malowz wrote on 5/10/2006, 11:12 PM
ive reinstalled, no changes...

and yes, only vegas does this... and i have TONS of software installed... (this allways happens to me, even after reinstalling windows...)

see for yourself.

malowz, have you done a virus scan?
malowz wrote on 5/11/2006, 10:13 AM
no, but im virus free, i can guarantee.

besides, how a virus can put vegas to set video animation after a windows instalation from cd in a new hd?
AlanC wrote on 5/11/2006, 11:57 AM
I'm no expert but believe me a virus can cause weird and wonderful things, but mainly weird. And a virus doesn't always reside on the hard disk.
malowz wrote on 5/11/2006, 12:08 PM
well, i guess microsoft wont sell infected windows intallation, neither distribute sp2 with virus... seagate too... were the supodes virus came from?

W32.Windows.Fade (and variants)

treath: high
spread: low
damage: low

this virus causes vegas to set fade on dialog window...

;)
winrockpost wrote on 5/11/2006, 12:18 PM
go to control panel, system, advanced, performance, visual effects, settings and click adjust for best performance

Then fade is not an option.
all i got hope it works
AlanC wrote on 5/11/2006, 12:20 PM
Are you saying that you have got a virus?
malowz wrote on 5/11/2006, 2:15 PM
@winrock
same thing... if you look at vegas window, it uses the fade effect... it "set" and "not unset" after close... :(

@AlanC

I can't see anything but blur in your wmv file so that's not much help. You might try h.264 codec and also walk through it slower.

You might go into prefs and toggle the "Enable Windows XP Theme Support" checkbox. It's the only thing in Vegas I can think of that would even relate to your vexing problem.
