I believe it does as long as you have a sound card and video card
with good win2K drivers! If I'm not mistaken I hear the Mixtreme card
has good win2k drivers.

i'm using Vegas Video with win2K... using pyro 1393 card ... the pyro
installed without any problems ..win2K loaded the ms dv device
drivers for it ...no problems operating camera in/out ....

After talking to them in person a few times, I came away with the
impression that the Soundscape-digital guys have been in the
forefront when it comes to writing NT drivers, including those for
Win2K.
Their Mixtreme drivers have never posed the slightest problem for me
under Win2K.
They did have a few quirks introduced in their latest driver set for
the Mixtreme that would NOT let you follow Brian's "golden rule" of
word clock configuration ... IOW, recording from a DAT to the hard
drive using any program required that you set the card to "Internal"
instead of the intuitive S/PDIF setting, which was an unannounced
change from the behavior of the previous driver. (That kind of threw
me for a loop in front of a client about a week after I updated ...
but being the quick lad that I am, I found a workaround - practising
a variation of Brian's rule - and then went looking for the reason
later that evening.) :)
That little quirk was apparently because of their insistence on
having the Mixtreme card work properly with Microsoft's buggy Windows
Media Encoder V7 ... I understand Microsoft finally fixed their end
and the above quirk is likely fixed ... however, it never did stop
the operation of the card in any manner, which is a testament to
their driver writing ability.
I LOVE the Mixtreme cards with Vegas! ... just be careful about the
motherboard and chip requirements, and keep in mind that you must
make provisions for analog and S/PDIF I/O independent of the card
purchase.
KAC ..

I am having very good luck with win2000.
I am running a supermicro motherboard, just recently changed up from
an Aopen AX6BC, so I could use dual processors. Right now I have only
one PIII 450, with the big, slow cache, so not a super duper
processor by any means.
I have 256 megs of 100mhz SDRam
I have a matrox G400 dual monitor AGP video card, as reccomended by
Karl C. in this forum, and it runs very very well....some dual
monitor finickiness takes a sec to get used to, but no big deal as I
can still run quake and motocross madness 2 :)
I have a promise ultra66 PCI card for ultra DMA66 drives...I am gonna
get the 100 but my friend is having problems getting his to work so
Im waiting on that
for sound cards, I have 1 event gina PCI ( I heartily do NOT
reccomend any thing by this sorry company )
also two soundscape mixtreme PCI cards, I LOVE these, I am a tascam
user so their TDIF format fits right in with my needs...you prolly do
not need two, unless you have a lot of channels on your tape recorder
(ooops "new school" thinking, tracks I mean)
I have one PCI network card, and a ISA 56k modem
this setup flies in the face of conventional wisdom, that says, use
your DAW PC ONLY for your audio apps and nothing else....I am careful
not to clog the registry, but I got a LOT of junk on here, and hey it
works pretty damn good...no problem at all to play or record 32
tracks at one time...I couldnt even think about trying this on win98
for some reason, and I tweaked that OS for months....
I hate hearing you guys brag about how good Win2k has worked for you,
and I'm still stuck using Win98SE because of MOTU!!!! They are not
planning to make Win2K drivers for their Midi interfaces, and I have
2 midi interfaces syncing my two systems together. One system for
audio and the other for midi sequencing. So if you have a MOTU
product, don't even think about upgrading to win2k...I've been
arguing with them for months, while my new win2k Pro sits in the box
it came in.....so this goes out to MOTU from me.
FUCK YOU VERY MUCH MOTU!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm through venting....everyone have a nice day :-)

I have the same problem with echo...at least the beta drivers they
last updated in july sort of work.
Lucky for me, long ago I needed a midi interface, and since everyone
always talked about motu for midi, I bought a PC MIDI flyer only to
find out that it only worked in windows 95 and there would be NO
updated drivers for it for win98...thats odd I thought, this product
has only been around for about 6 months, at least a year after the
introduction of win98...so I made a conscious decision to cross MOTU
off my list....glad I did, now
Same with mackie...until the D8B, the most expensive product they
made was the Ultramix VCA automation system...and now they will not
make any new drivers since win95!!!!
This is NOT a piece of software....SSL and NEVE have no problems
supporting their older stuff...what gives???
And does mackie think after that I will fork over quite a few bucks
on their D8B only to find out that they have a D8B mk2 or something
and I have a useless box of crap?
I think not
Here's another kicker for MOTU, I just purchased a Yamaha 03D and
have been banging my head against the wall, trying to get my 03D to
accept Midi Time Code. It would read midi data, but could not
translate it to midi Time code. I am using a MOTU pocket Express to
generate Time code from Vegas. That Time code goes to my other PC
which has Opcode's Vision Sequencer and the 03D. Vision would read
the timecode, but the 03D wouldn't, coming from the same midi port.
Well I had just worked on this problem with Yamaha's Techsupport
(best in the biz for techsupport in MO) , and told me that in their
midi monitor page that it should be reading a "F1", which is a flag
for midi timecode. It wasn't!!, the reason why Vision could read the
MTC was because I'm using a MOTU micro Express and it somehow
understood what the Pocket Express was sending it.....so obviously
MOTU has their own proprietary midi time code......at least for the
pocket express. I had Vision regenerate the timecode it was
receiving and then send it back out the Micro Express and then to the
03D, all of a sudden I was seeing "F1's" and the 03D was reading Midi
Time code. MOTU sucks!!!! These midi interfaces are going up on
Ebay, they will make some Mac guy happy.
