Windows 7 64 bit

I've purchased a new PC with Win 7 64 bit as the operating system. I saw something earlier on last year's webinar (the questions at the end of the presentation) where one of the software technical team said that Platinum 10 HD could only utilise 2GB of RAM and 32 bits and in order to unlock the full power of your PC (my new quad core machine has 8GB of RAM) you need to move to a different version of vegas.

My questions:

Have I understood this correctly?
What does it mean anyway?
Does it mean that I've wasted my money on the new PC unless I upgrade to Pro?

Thanks

All Vegas Movie Studio versions are 32-bit. 32-bit apps can only see up to 2Gig of RAM. However, Windows will be able to see the full amount. If you upgrade to the 64-bit version of Vegas Pro, Vegas will also be able to see more RAM.

Thanks Jet.

I'll wait to see if I can edit AVCHD clips with just the 2GB of RAM available before I consider the pro version.

My new Sony camcorder has cost me a new editing program and a new PC so far. When will it end?

I only want to make a few home movies!!!!

I'm using WIndows 7 64bit, and have no problems with AVCHD clips

Don't buy the Pro version. Just apply the Large Address Aware fix as described in later threads. I've recently applied it and have no more problems with Low Memory errors.
