I have installed VMS 9 Premium on a new Windows7 Ultimate Installation and - it works all fine.
The Update from Vista to Win7 i would'nt do, cause the starting time of win was much more longer after upgrade from Vista.

The thing is I already have Vms 9 installed on my pc with vista. What Im worried about is changing to Win7 and it for some reason effecting VMS. Also could you explain the longer start up time? Not sure what you meant

Well, here's a sad one for you- I just installed Movie Studio 9 Platinum on my new Win 7 computer. I bought it specifically because on the Sony Creative Website under "system requirements" it specifies that Windows 7 is one of thesupported operating systems.

I tried a simple project of importing a bunch of AVCHD clips from my Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder and just wanted to combine them into a single mp4 file.

But when I hit "make movie" and specify my settings, right when it should start rendering, instead I get a box that says "an exception has occurred" and it shuts the program down. It does this every time I try to render anything even if I change settings.

Now get this- I went on here on this website to send an email to tech support and of course they gather info about your computer and stuff. I immediately received an automated reply saying that no help would be offered to me by tech support because I had told them I had Windows 7 and according to the tech support email Windows 7 is NOT a supported operating system.

Now, of course I don't know whether my problem with the program is related to my OS or not, but it is infuriating that a company would clearly advertise Windows 7 as a compatible operating systen and then arbitrarily refuse to help anyone with windows 7.

So beware...if you upgrade to Win 7 you are signing away your tech support privileges!! Since Sony doesn't tell you that up front I guess it's up topeople who get burned like me to get the word out.

First off, THANK YOU!! It feels great to know that there is hope.

I went in and changed the memory flag for the executable file but I couldn't find the other files mentioned in the fix where I need to reset memory flags, specifically:

m2tsplug.dll
mcstdh264dec.dll
sonymvd2pro_xp.dll

Where are they? Does that part of the fix apply to Movie Studio 9 or just to Vegas?

I haven't tried running the program yet since just making the one alteration.

Also- after I made the modification in CFF explorer it wouldn't allow me to overwrite the original executable file- I had to rename it in order to save it...so I guess I just launch the program using my newly renamed file?!??

Addendum- for some reason my newly renamed file is not showing as an executable file so I can't launch the program with it. Is there any way I can force the CFF explorer to overwrite the original program?

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong- noone else that used the fix mentioned this difficulty...

Update-sorry for the multiple posts...I was able to rename the executabel file soas to make it executable...and I fired up the program and so far things appear to be working!

Can't thank you enough...still curious about whether I need to try to find those other files to alter them...

Look in the folder where you have Vegas installed. There is a sub-folder called FileIO Plug-ins. It has a folder called m2tsplug; the DLLs are in there.

I patched those files and that got Vegas to work for me. But I was rendering 1920x1080 video with 5.1 surround sound. If you are rendering something different you might not need/use those DLLs/
